For Blue Mountains City Council and Blue Mountains Cultural Centre

‘Stay a while in my world’ is a mural project idea for the internal and side walls of a bus shelter in Leura. Turning a very plain and drab structure into a living, immersive artwork for people to experience and enjoy spending some time in will bring public art to this part of Leura and change the way visitors experience this space. I’m interested in the bus shelter struc- ture and the way it can be used as a transportative experience, to get you ready for your destination and turn the experience of waiting and anticipation into a more positive one.

By featuring native plants and flowers in a minimalist and contemporary way, this structure becomes a giant hide and seek game where passers-by can search for and try to recognise their favourite local flora. It also connects this very man-made environment with the national park areas surrounding it.

The warm earthy tones will allow this work to stand out while still keeping it all earthy and grounded.
