For my home in the Blue Mountains, just outside Sydney
I’ve always loved the idea of invisible ink and the way it can hide messages and reveal them all at once in the right conditions. Playing on this idea, I decided that the best way to use a large wall of our home was to create a very soft, organic and almost invisible mural full of glossy layers, overlaid tonal combinations of white and cream colours.
When designing the mural I had an idea about how it would respond to the light changing within our home throughout the day but it has continued to surprise us. Every day and season is different - sometimes the glossy levels reflect a wild, orange sunrise and sometimes the shadows of the gums add their own shapes to my composition. I am very grateful for the opportunity to experiment in my own home with this work and look forward to creating more invisible murals.
